Video: Guttermouth – “A Boy and His Love Gun”

I wanted to bring you a new song from California snot-punks Guttermouth.  The song titled “A Boy and His Love Gun” is from their new album The Whole Enchiladawhich releases next month on Bird Attack Records.

I’ve been a huge Guttermouth fan since early 1992 when I picked up their Puke and Balls 7″ singles and their first album (later all three were on the CD known as Full Length LP). In 1994, Guttermouth, who had recently signed to Nitro Records, was on tour with The Offspring and Big Drill Car and I was lucky enough to catch the show. Through the years, the band’s lineup has changed a lot (starting in the late 1990’s), so I was lucky to see the “original” core of the band when I saw them in ’94.

Enjoy the song and check out their new album!

Upcoming Shows: Going to see The Queers, Guttermouth and Agent Orange!

The QueersIn March, I’m planning on going to see Agent Orange / Guttermouth / The Queers / The Atom Age in Indianapolis. I wish the tour was playing closer to my area, but it’s only a 5 hour drive each way, so no big deal.

I’ve seen Guttermouth a couple of times and always enjoy their shows. I think their singer Mark is hilarious, although many people don’t share that sentiment. It will be nice to see The Queers again. It’s been about 5 years or so since I’ve seen them live and spoken to Joe Queer. My old bass player and best friend knows Joe, so I’ll have to see if I can weasel my way on to the guest list again. After seeing The Queers live at least 25 times, I should just have a lifetime pass, right? Right? No? No.

As far as Agent Orange, I’ve never seen them, but as a huge SoCal skatepunk fan, I’m stoked to see them because they are legends. I’ve read some reviews about their live show not being very good, but I’ll have to see for myself. The band has just as much of an opportunity to impress as they do to disappoint, so I’m going in open-minded. The last band on the bill is The Atom Age. I’ve listened to a few tracks of theirs and maybe it is just me, but they sound like a heavier The Blue Meanies during their “Smash The Magnavox” era. Hopefully they put on a “smashing” good show, right? Right? Fuck it, I’m done.

Upcoming Shows: Guttermouth and The Cryptics!

Guttermouth

“Number 201 reporting for duty, sir!” Guttermouth will be back in town in a couple of weeks and I am going. The band is currently touring with The Cryptics. Not being familiar with the supporting act, I did some research. The Cryptics have a riff-heavy sound and hard-hitting drums. The band didn’t really click with me although I imagine a lot of people may enjoy them.

The Cryptics  have a second opportunity for redemption. Because one of the best things about going to see a live show is that it allows for the most honest review of a band, it allows me another chance to become a fan of The Cryptics.

I have so many rad memories blasting Guttermouth’s self-title album while skateboarding with my friend Jeff. So I dedicate this post to him (he’s not dead, so it’s cool). While you are waiting for Guttermouth to come to your town, please enjoy this fucking classic snotty skatepunk gem.
